Marathon training day 15…

Well, I have missed writing for the last three days. Saturday and Monday were my off days, and I had my long run on Sunday as planned. I’ve just had so much clouding my mind lately! I am so ready for a vacation!! I need a break from just thinking. Everything falls on me now, and with the Pandemic keeping us indoors more than we are used to, it has really started to take a toll on us all. From the youngest to the oldest, we are all ready to break free! ha ha…

I found a turtle on my Sunday run! So cool! I did what any mother would do too. I picked it up and put it back closer to it’s home near the water. I’m not sure if I was supposed to do that, but it was just so hot on the trail that it just felt like the right thing to do! As soon as I picked it up and tilted it a little a gush of water poured out and on to my legs. There went my thank you!

This long run was supposed to be for 8 miles, but I added .46 straight walking at the end in honor of George Floyd. I also didn’t run in my neighborhood this time. I drove to a nearby trail, so I would not have to think about how many blocks I would need to run to equal the distance I needed to cover. This was a good distance for me. I skipped a few walking breaks and kept running, listening to my body and just allowing myself to enjoy the run. In general, when I incorporate the Galloway run:walk ratios, my average pace throughout entire distance is better than if I just ran it all. I also end better, less fatigued.

For today’s run, all I needed to complete was 3 miles base. I did a steady slow paced 3,54 in about 45 min. I took it slow and kept a steady pace throughout my run, listening to my new audio book Out There by David Clark the ultra-marathoner. The one new thing I’m thinking is that I’m ready to start adding more miles to my week. I cannot seem to break out of this 13 mile pace, so If that’s going to be my new “it” pace, then adding the miles is next. I’m craving more!

The rest of my day was pretty uneventful, just work and kiddos, same old same old. My #4 turns 18 tomorrow so we went and got our nails done this evening together. Every runner needs a destress pedi at least once a month!
